St Andrew’s Uniting Church at 131 Creek St, Brisbane AUS. Built 1905. Heritage listed. The church is a beautiful exercise in brick detailing which I’ve admired since I was an architecture student in the 1960s. The detail on the left is of a window on the upper part of a tower on the right of the picture. Into the window detail, I inserted my photo of the scene which, by sheer coincidence shows a single person in front of each arched window. The text on the upper right represents a roof of slate tiles.
One of my first attempts at using layers of different colour penwork drawn over one another so that each layer could be read independently or in combination. The work intentionally has a graphic sensibility.
