The narrative in this work embraces the psychological guise of riding alone through significant emotional stressors, overcoming the storm, and seeing the light.
The indiscriminate brush strokes suggest ‘fight or flight’. The solo tree reflects its soul in the storms’ offerings as one of beauty and self-love. The rider has overcome the worst and journeys into the light of acceptance.

“Surfing the Internet: An introduction,” was published in the Wilson Library Bulletin. Polly was sitting at her computer, in the act of browsing from one page to another, thinking about what title to use when she looked down at her mousepad. There was a surfer, a wave, and the phrase, Information surfing. “I said, 'That's my metaphor." This is a humorous take on the literal meaning of Surfing the Net!
I’m sure our intelligent Magpies are enjoying the ride!

Though art itself can’t stop people from fighting and dying from hunger, it can still help promote empathy and compassion, and bring solace in times of distress.

I found myself drawing parallels to current life in small Australian city suburbia. Appearances can be deceptive or untrue, and “All is not as it seems” suggests that there is much more to life in this messed up world than meets the eye, implying hidden depths or contradictions within what we see and hear from the media.

My work is created to bring hope and joy to the viewer in an otherwise anxious society
