Beneath the red earth

A sweeping panoramic landscape where river, land, and life merge into one continuous pulse. Flowing bands of crimson, ochre, charcoal, and turquoise carve through the canvas, bringing both aerial terrain and underwater movement.

Emerging from these layered currents are powerful whale forms , guardians of the deep , gliding silently through a terrain that feels both terrestrial and oceanic.

Delicate turquoise tree forms, outlined in luminous blues and whites, rise like spirit forests across the surface. Their intricate inner markings suggest veins, roots, coral, and neural pathways blurring the boundary between plant, reef, and living organism. Hidden eyes peer from the land itself, hinting that this environment is conscious, watchful, and alive.

The elongated 63 x 170 cm format enhances the sense of journey , like drifting along a river system or scanning an ancient coastline from above.

The painting moves sideways through story, memory, and elemental connection.

This work is inspired by the deep relationship between land and echoing Australian coastal landscapes where red earth meets vast blue waters. It is influenced by aerial perspectives of river systems, whale migration routes, and organic mapping patterns found in nature.

There is a strong sense of interconnected ecosystems, how forests, rivers, ocean life, and even unseen energies are intertwined. The whales symbolise wisdom and ancestral memory, while the turquoise trees may represent regeneration, spirit, or coral like life forms bridging two worlds.
