This painting was inspired by quiet Mediterranean mornings, when the day begins slowly and light gently fills the space. I am drawn to moments of stillness — simple, everyday scenes that carry a sense of calm and presence.
From a balcony overlooking the sea, familiar objects rest on a small table: an open book, a cup of coffee, and a straw hat. These elements suggest rest, reflection, and unhurried time. Beyond them, the sea stretches into the distance, catching soft morning light, while terracotta rooftops and stone architecture anchor the scene in a timeless coastal setting.
Using oil paint and expressive 3D texture, I built the surface in layers to give depth and movement to the water, foliage, and architectural details. The texture allows light to interact with the painting throughout the day, subtly changing its mood.
