Vata no. 1

Vata no. 2, one half of a diptych by Abbey Bryon, explores the fire energy and creativity from within. In Ayurveda, the Vata dosha is made up of both the air and ether elements. Those with predominantly Vata predispositions are inherently creative, with a flowing, floaty energy.
The artists' process is deliberately chaotic. Organic, flowing movement reflects the artists' state of flow and meditation. The paint is spread and scraped across the linen to loosely depict the Australian landscape. Negative space is celebrated and embraced within her process, showing the supportive ground underneath the work.

Abbey Bryon is an abstract artist, originally from rural New South Wales, now based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Working from memory and experience, and informed by the country and coastal landscapes of her home, her work is intuitive, unforced, and organic.

She works with traditional mediums such as acrylic, charcoal and oil, and often incorporates found materials like cloth, sawdust and wood chips into her pieces.

Abbey’s work has landed in private collections across Australia.
She works closely with interior designers, stylists and direct clients to bring to life unique, specially created original artworks.
