Artwork Description

Her hand around his was only for a little while, but the direction it gave him is for the rest of the way.

A woman in pink walks a small child by the hand up a winding path, following the fence line toward a timber cottage with a red roof at the top of a green rise. Further along, a lone figure stands near the house, and at the far right edge of the cliff another sits looking out over the drop. Below them the hillside falls away into golden trees crowded with sulphur crested cockatoos, swallows in pink and violet cutting across the pale blue air. An original acrylic painting on board, ready to hang.

Artist Bio

I grew up in a house that smelled of oil paint, watching my father work without ever being taught. Thirty years on, my paintings stand on loose, accidental grounds, half accident, half intention, made somewhere in the middle where the paint and I meet. That middle is where the series takes its name: The Middle Country. My cockatoos and figures are all one thing, my family, painted over and over in a glowing landscape, with the conviction that real happiness comes from within. Painting full time since 1998, Brisbane, Australia.
