Dry river walls with blackened roots emerging from ochre soil. Layers revealed by water and drought. Earth hot and gritty beneath my feet, sun intensifying and distorting colour and shape. Gestural marks are made with both brush and hand. This artwork is a diptych of 2 canvases framed together in a hardwood floating frame.
Light, energy, emotion - I am interested in visual perception and visual sensation. Nature inspired organic shapes and contrasts of colour and texture explore themes of energy and place. Brushstrokes are left raw and immediate recording my presence in the work. Their abstraction invites a collaboration with the viewer to complete a mood or experience that is individual to each person.
