Artwork Description

Original oil painting of tumble Nasturtiums in willow pattern egg cups.

These nasturtiums grow quite profusely in the gardens of your mountain home so are a wonderful reminder of our time here on the mountain.

Painted on a solid wood paddle which was sourced from our local 100 year old Primary school. The paddle is VERY old and was originally used by students as part of their Physical Education program. As a result it is beautifully worn and scuffed to show a reminder of simpler times.

The yellow paint is original to the paddle and I have left it as a chippy background to the still life.

The paddle is solid wood and measures approximately 35cm x 18cm x 2cm

I have placed a “D” Ring to the back so it can be hung on a wall, but also works just as well leaning as part of a display. The paddle will be signed by the artist to the back once completely dry.

This is the VERY LAST of these old Olinda primary school paddles I have and once they are gone they are GONE as no more can be sourced.

(Please note, second paddle shown in photo has SOLD)

Diploma Education - Victoria College (Dip. Ed.)
Alicia Cornwell is a Melbourne-based artist working from her home studio in Olinda, Victoria — a 100-year-old house nestled among the historic gardens and lush landscapes of the Dandenong Ranges. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Printmaking and Painting (Caulfield Institute of Technology – Monash University, 1985) and a Graduate Diploma in Art Education (Victoria College, Burwood, 1987).

Specialising in contemporary still life, Alicia works primarily in oils. Her compositions are a graceful fusion of natural elements and vintage design — a reflection of her many years in the antiques and interiors industry. Her paintings range from bold and vibrant to soft and pastel-toned, always with a focus on structure, layered glazes, and fine detail.

Deeply inspired by the changing seasons and the surrounding national parks, Alicia’s work captures both the serenity and richness of her environment. Her art has been exhibited and collected across Australia and internationally, and she is proudly represented by a number of galleries nationwide.
