"The Point" looks out on to the Indian Ocean, towards long point in the distance. A place my family have held close to their hearts for much of their lives. The Kimberley family built one of the original shacks there in the 1970's. We would venture there along a sandy overgrown bush track for seaside holidays and weekends with out cousins, uncles and aunts. Running along hot sand to make it to the water. Crisp fresh air. Nights on the creaky beds with the patterned mattresses. A bucket serving as a dunny. Tin walls and timber frames. Coco pops for brekky. The smell of the summer coastal plants, I can remember so clearly. It brings so many fond memories of exactly what peace feels like.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
I'm a visual artist residing in Perth Western Australia. I've been doing art classes since I was 8 years old, following my passion in to adulthood, completing a Fine Arts & Visual Culture degree through Curtin Uni. I love spending my days splashing colour, gardening, down the beach or in the bush.
My artwork is inspired by the beauty and power of nature. My work features botanical patterns and textures, as well as underwater reef scenes and marine life. I primarily work with acrylics, watercolours and pen to explore various ways of depicting natural forms, pattern and texture. I intend for my artwork to direct conversation and continue the ongoing fight for the protection of the natural world, against climate change, pollution, waste and overconsumption.
