'Cherished Memories' is a painting inspired by the iris flower and the softer colours and beauty of a flourishing countryside flower garden. Brings back lovely memories of being out in the garden with my grandma who loved her flowers and roses. A joyful colour palette of light blues, purple and natures greens create a colourful, calm and homely feel. The soft floating organic flower shapes are painted to create movement almost like a light swaying dancing motion which again enhances that overall peacefulness.
Choosing the colours at the start of a piece is an important part of my artistic process and and I love choosing the colours through how I am feeling and what I want the viewer to also feel. It is fascinating how a certain colour can really change a rooms ambiance and feel. Purple symbolises: spirituality, mystery, royalty, luxury and imagination. The effects of purple are that it enlightens, inspires, uplifts and encourages. Blue can represent rest and can cause the body to produce chemicals that are calming and release feelings of tranquility. Blue is also cooling in nature and helps with balance and self-expression. Blue is a lovely compliment to the seductive purples and greens in this artwork.
