Artwork Description

Influenced by the patterns and forms found in the natural world and for this painting particularly the native Australian flowers, my gouache paintings are a meditative process, where observations of details in my surrounding environment are simplified to become structured abstract compositions. A journey unto themselves, my paintings evolve through intuition, beginning with one shape and one colour, then unfolding as more shades and configurations emerge. It is through the mixing of the colours, the exploration of simplified shapes and patterns and the flat, opaque medium of gouache, that is so appealing to me in the creation of these paintings.

Artist Bio

My paintings embody my love of colour, nature and abstract form. I live on the Northern beaches of Sydney, with our home and garden bordering a large expanse of bushland. This bushland provides a playground of inspiration with its endless forms and patterns.
Originally completing a Bachelor of Interior Architecture at UNSW in 2002, my lifelong love and practice in painting became my passion to pursue around parenting my three kids. I still find the simplicity of form in contemporary architecture and design another point of inspiration alongside the organic configurations of the natural world. I work in various mediums of Acrylic, Oil and Gouache. I work from my home studio.
