Influenced by the patterns and forms found in the natural world, my gouache paintings are a meditative process, where observations of details in my surrounding environment are simplified to become structured abstract compositions. A journey unto themselves, my paintings evolve through intuition, beginning with one shape and one colour, then unfolding as more shades and configurations emerge. It is through the mixing of the colours, the exploration of simplified shapes and patterns and the flat, opaque medium of gouache, that is so appealing to me in the creation of these paintings.
