Artwork Description

Adeline is the first in a new series: Belle Vogue. I have longed to combine portraiture with still life and landscape elements, particularly in pencil. The softness and delicate finish of this medium lends itself particularly well to the feminine face. It also gives a diaphanous feel to the room in which Adeline stands. The two elements of portrait and place come together to create a delicate narrative that, I hope, intrigues the viewer.
The turquoise walls in the piece are echoed in the acrylic edges, painted in a complimentary hue. Many layers of matte varnish have been applied to seal and protect the drawn surface from damage from sunlight, dust and moisture. Of course, always keep artwork out of direct sunlight, no matter what the medium.
Sturdy hanging wire is attached by D rings in a horizontal orientation to the timber frame.
Framed by an artisan framer in Tasmanian oak.
My artist signature is placed in both front and back of the piece, with year and title on the back.
