Gwynevere - Framed Fantasy Portrait

INSPIRATION

Medieval art, mythology and history inspired this piece. A whimsical depiction of the Lady Gwynevere, crowned as King Arthur’s Queen.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS

Golden acrylic is used to highlight this piece created using a watercolour pencil and varnishing technique. The varnish sets the surface whilst additionally lifting and enlivening the paint pigments.

As with all my work, this piece is rendered in a painterly style, revealing gestural marks, movement and depth. I enjoy leaving a somewhat rustic finish to each piece, which enriches the work with signs of human endeavour.
