This piece forms part of the Pandora Series, a group of work’s reflecting on the chaos and trials of human existence.
At this time, it cannot be ignored that, for many, this world is a confronting domain. Home has been wrenched away. A country rent asunder by others. Fragmented and isolated, these people represent the nightmare that is conflict: from without and within.
I prayed for peace as I painted this work. May it be answered swiftly.
Deeper Meaning:
The depiction of the Ukrainian flag, broken into many pieces by an invading darkness, with symbolism such as parcels and life preservers depicting our desire to assist a nation in distress.
A call to arms is seen in a horn and flaming urn. The Ukrainian national colours rise up and hover above the darkness. Courage and hope defy the invading hordes.
