"Grey Butcherbird" by Anica Amphlett is an original watercolour painting and requires framing to hang.
Butcherbird's get their name from their butcher-like feeding-style by empaling their catch on a branch or twig. Even the end of their beak looks like a hook, but that part of their existence didn't inspire me, I was inspired though, with their graceful demeanour when sitting still. And this is what I portrayed in the painting. Butcherbirds also have a delightful song and can mimic other birds as well as making their song melodically versatile.
Mission: I strive to express emotion in my artwork and hopes it resonates with you too. I also hope that it lifts a special spot in your home. My style is a combination of looseness and detail, allowing watercolour to do its magic and then adding some detail bringing the subject to life.
