I am an Australian artist based in Yamba, NSW.
Born in Grafton, I studied in Sydney and have lived in Newcastle and Maitland. In 1988 I moved to Brisbane where I lived for many years raising my family. In 2020 I moved to Yamba, NSW.
I have always loved art and painting, and I won several art awards in my school years.
Returning to art as an adult, I studied at TAFE, achieving a Certificate IV in Visual Art and Contemporary Craft, specialising in painting.
Always keen to improve my skills, I regularly attend workshops with my favourite artists and tutors.
“One of my happy places is to take part in a workshop with fellow artists and an inspiring teacher.”
I have developed my skills and vision to create my own style, focusing on seascapes but also including landscapes, figures, animals and flowers.
My favourite medium is oil paint. I paint with both brushes and palette knife to create both impressionist loose paintings and more realistic artworks, depending on my mood and how the painting develops.
My inspiration is the natural world, aiming to evoke feelings of peace and tranquillity. My particular love is to paint the ocean and coastal landscapes.
“There is something about the wide horizon, the changing light and the sense of space that the coast can inspire. I try to bring all these elements into my art.”
My art has sold widely across Australia, and also overseas and I have won several art prizes and highly commended awards.
“Painting is not just a hobby; it is an important part of my life and it makes my life richer and happier to put brush to canvas. I can’t imagine my life without art.”
