These hard working fishing boats were sketched live at Nelson Bay NSW and then painted in studio. I use cold wax medium to texture oil paint, blurring edges to suggest movement and re-drawing in rough charcoal to recapture shapes and detail. Cool blue-grey and turquoise colours reflect the sea amongst foaming white waves.
