I have been living and painting in Hawkesbury for many years by now. Initially, I painted in oil with brushes. But, one day I just took on knives for a change and immediately loved the quality and texture achieved. Since then I paint with palette & painting knives. Eventually I managed to establish my own way of painting with knives. Since then I am a self-taught palette/painting knife painter.
My works have been sold locally and overseas. So far I have painted mainly Landscapes & seascapes in Australia and other parts of the world
All my current works were painted 100% with knives and I am continuously looking for better and more effective ways to further the use of various shapes & sizes of palette and painting knives. I usually use thin paint layers for sky, background and some areas of the middle ground. Remaining part of the middle ground and the foreground are built with thick layers. Doing so I effectively control the entire painting process in order to achieve the results I desire.
In my works I always look for light and shade, love creating shadows. I am mainly a Studio painter, so use reference photos frequently. But, I do not copy it 100%, I re-arrange objects, change colour scheme, exaggerate some colours & atmosphere, as required.
At present I do not sell prints or reproduce my art works. Hence, my buyers hold & enjoy original unique paintings with no hard copies anywhere else. All my paintings are delivered with duly signed Certificates of Authenticity.
I paint because I love creating art. By selling my works I recover some of my expenses associated with paintings, but most importantly it is about finding someone to love & look after my works for many more years to come.
Magnificent Hawkesbury region in NSW has inspired me to become an artist and I am to continue with my art journey into the future
