About Artur Lasota
I live and work in Sydney’s Inner West, creating from the solitude and energy of my home studio.
My art is a response to what I see—an ongoing dialogue between visual sensation and fragments of daily life, spontaneous observations, and curiosity. These elements form the foundation of my work, shaped by the subject’s underlying meta.
Some ideas evolve into abstraction, demanding a fast, intuitive approach where form emerges through layered paint. Others are sparked by human character—moments when I’m challenged to question my own perceptions and strive to understand expression and posture.
What matters most to me is letting go of preconceptions and cynicism. I aim to let the work lead, allowing unexpected discoveries to surface—things I might otherwise overlook.
The images I create often carry exaggeration and distortion, not for effect, but to refine the essence of the subject. It usually takes time before a painting begins to live on its own. When that moment arrives, I know there’s a reason to keep going.
Thank you for your interest in my work.
