I have always loved painting the feminine. This painting is based off a photo that I took of a good friend of mine. I wanted to hide her face to evoke a sense of mystery, and also to put the focus on her long neck, her beautiful blonde hair tied up elegantly in a bun, and her fine gold and pearl jewellery.
This artwork was created using the finest quality oils on wooden board. I painted this using a new technique of building up multiple transparent layers of paint to create an interesting visual effect. I love looking closely at an artwork and seeing visible brushstrokes, thickly layered paint in certain areas, and other areas to appear transparent.
