This artwork is an original, one-off work by the artist.
This is a HUGE work, being 2 panels totalling 5.1 meters wide by 1.55 meters high. 'Resting in the Garden of the Hesperides' is based upon Greek mythology, whereby the gods gained their power by eating the fruit (golden apples) of the garden to obtain immortality. There is a metaphor in this work concerning our need to live longer. Painted in the style of abstract expressionism.
The work is in two parts and should be displayed next to each other.
PART 1: This is where someone enters the garden and eats of the golden apples.
PART 2: Then obtaining immortality, someone can then see eternity.
I like using acrylics as the colours blend so well together.
This work is painted on heavyweight Holncorp Gallery linen canvas and has been sealed with varnish. Each panel is 2.55 meters x 1.55 meters and rests side by side. They can be shipped in a crate.
This work was created in July 2017.
In my paintings, I use the finest quality professional Synthetic Polymer paints, gallery canvas. The painting was sprayed with a glaze of varnish.
A Certificate of Authenticity with hologram - verification is attached to each part, unlike most Diptych paintings which only have one registration, this one has one for each panel.
