Banksia coccinea season arrives with winter in Western Australia. Before each of the hundreds of tiny individual flowers on the spike open, they remind me of something that has been crocheted.

I am a Perth based artist working in acrylics. Raised in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, a love of nature led to a career in environmental science with a focus on the botanical world. My passion for Australian flora and an interest in the sentimentality placed on objects appear often as subject material. My paintings often portray a sense of melancholy or sometimes whimsy, but always with the common thread of time passing. To be both familiar and different is the ultimate aim.
