Artwork Description

A sepia toned desert landscape. This work is influenced by two paintings‚ \'The Questioner of the Sphinx\'‚ 1836‚ by Elihu Vedder‚ and Mark Tansey\'s \'The Secret of the Sphinx\'‚ 1984. A modern film crew have crossed the desert sands‚ seeking answers from the crumbling stone head of an statue‚ a sound recordist holding a boom mic to its mouth‚ in the same manner in which ancient seers might travel to oracles seeking wisdom. Fallen pillars litter the sands. The painting is executed in a free‚ impressionistic manner.
