This year I’m making a dedicated effort to paint all of the things I want to paint (after 6 or 7 solid years of mainly painting commissions). Hamburgers have been on the list for a while, and I discovered that there’s a great takeaway shop 50m from my studio in Wentworth Falls. The hamburgers are great and also good models.
These artworks are positive and joyful, speak of good times and guilty pleasures. Dripping with beautiful combinations of colours - the over saturated magenta of the beetroot staining the toasted ochres of the buns and the surprisingly complex greens and yellows of the lettuce. I can’t lie, they’re a joy to paint.
The canvas has painted sides, and is ready to hang without needing to be framed. The surface is protected by a satin varnish.
Bon appetit!
