This Unpopular Penguin shelfie is made of books representing the films of Stanley Kubrick. Some of the films are (of course) based on real books, while others come from screenplays, but I figure that if an artist canβt use artistic license, who can?
Iβm a big fan of Kubrick, particularly 2001, The Shining, Paths of Glory and Dr Strangelove, but my favourite is probably Barry Lyndon (shot entirely in natural light and candle light, which caused all kinds of technical challenges). This painting gave me a chance to combine my love of books, painting and movies.
The canvas has painted sides, and is ready to hang without needing to be framed. It has a gloss varnish.
