Artwork Description

• Pandanus climbing a steep grassy bluff at Burleigh Heads in a slow-motion rush to the summit. I’ve focussed on the brilliance of the direct and reflected light and colour, trusting my process to honour the complexity of the swirly leaf blades and the marching “legs” of these awesome plants.
• This large textural acrylic painting is on gessoed Fabriano watercolour paper mounted on a double-braced cradled panel. It is professionally finished with an isolation coat before a final gloss varnish. It continues round the edges and is ready to hang, so framing is optional.
• I hand-craft my panels from marine plywood with Australian hardwood bracing, and mount 300gsm watercolour paper with acrylic gel before painting. All surfaces are sealed with acrylic varnish. All paints and materials are archival, so it will last generations.

Artist Bio

• Our world’s shapes, colours and textures have a deep personal resonance and I aim to share that sense of wonder. I’ll always keep experimenting, learning, and making sense of the world through my personal art, and I’m excited to showcase and offer some of the pieces here in the hope you’ll enjoy them too.

• I work predominantly in acrylic and sympathetic water media. My acrylic works on watercolour paper mounted to my own handcrafted braced panels do not need to be mounted under glass, and can be cared for like any other varnished acrylic painting. All my works are completed with artist quality archival materials and media, and crafted with care and attention to longevity.

• If you are interested in a piece and have further questions, or are just curious about how I created it, feel free to drop me a question here in Bluethumb. Be sure to check out all my paintings, even the sold ones that I’m also very proud of, by clicking on the links above.
