Oil painting of a little hut on Achill Island in Ireland, green grass and blue ocean with cliffs below. This is a painting of the first-to-bloom nasturtium flowers I grew from seed. I love their unruliness and the green and orange colour combination. I also wanted to capture the flowers’ shadows and compliment their wild, free growth with plenty of texture.Poppies have a wild, unruly nature to them which has always captivated me; their petals are like tissue paper, soft and ephemeral and unique in each flower. This painting is an exploration of colour and texture, and hopefully a pretty reminder to always bloom wildy, like poppies do in spring.
