An old stairway that I found in an old building in a small village in Uruguay. It takes you up to the main door of the house. I was fascinated by the flowers hanging on to the wall. I also loved the old pots in the courtyard. The rest of the compound can be seen in the background.
To get the steps right was very tricky because they were very old and dilapidated, with lots of fading colours.
Most of the work was done with the palette knife in order to achieve the texture needed for the building.
The sides are painted in a raw sienna colour to match the painting. No framing is required but it can be framed if so desired.
I can see this painting hanging on a wall together with another one of my small paintings of houses or flowers. i think it would go beautifully with my artwork The White Wall.
