Casey Charles is a Queensland based, contemporary realist artist working with oil on canvas.
His artwork hangs in numerous private art collections in both Qld and Interstate, including the main lobby of the Vogue-on-Broadbeach Luxury Apartments, Gold Coast, and public spaces such as the Radium Institute at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
In 2023, he won both First Prize and the People's Choice award in the Queensland Splash Exhibition, and People's Choice Award in the RQAS (Royal Qld Art Society ) Annual Exhibition.
His work has been recognized with the top award in numerous exhibitions including the RQAS Annual Exhibition on 4 occasions = 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2019, and the RNA (Royal National Association) Exhibition on six occasions β the most recent being his most last entry in 2017.
He won the RQAS Abstract Painting Award in 2021, and the RSPCA Wild Creatures Award in 2020. He has recently been a finalist in the ClaytonUtz Art Prize, the Percival Portrait Prize, the Lethbridge Small Scale Art Award, the Doyles Landscape Award and the Qld Figurative Art Prize.
His initial training was at the Pir Tareen Art School in Brisbane.
He paints landscapes, portraits, still life paintings and street scenes all in vivid, loud, bright colors. His work is influenced by the style of Vincent van Gogh.
His paintings have a distinctive personal style that emanate joy and are inspired by the people, places and the colors from his travels.
Behind each of these works there lies the feeling of an equally intriguing story.
These stories range from the lane ways, cafes and bars of the inner city, to the artist
circles of Montmartre in Paris, the countryside of the Scottish Highlands, and the
galleries of Northern Italy. His artwork is a reflection of his meetings and experiences.
