Inspired by landscapes in the Capertee Valley, I really wanted to create a landscape without using traditional colours. I did a rough sketch at first and then let the composition form up over the five layers, settling on the final black layer to tie it all together. This was a wonderful and nerve wracking process, as you have no idea what the result will be, until the final layer is printed... and there's no take backs, as once it's carved, it can never be repeated exactly the same (which is quite ephemeral and thrilling).
This artwork is unframed and will be posted in a tube.
