Artwork Description

Hand made glazed terracotta clay tablet

As an artist and budding potter, I've been experimenting with ways of bringing my love of still life art and composition together with ceramics. I get genuinely excited by the ways the glazes react to each other in the kiln, inspiring me to apply this beautiful and unpredictable process to my art. The intensity and variation of the glaze once it is fired is mesmerising and every piece has it's own unique tone created by the way the glazes melt and react with each other. I feel this brings a wonderful sense of individuality to the medium of lino printing, which otherwise can feel quite uniform.

This composition is based on a hibiscus plant I had my eye on when visiting Airlie Beach.
