Artwork Description

I've been painting some of the dogs I meet at the dog park and down the beach when I take my dogs for their walks. I was pleasantly surprised at how delightful this project turned out to be.
My collection of Park Dog paintings is eclectic because every dog I meet is unique. They are creatures with personalities as individual as their appearances, and those are incredibly diverse in size, stature, colouring and coats, long, short, curly, straight, thin, thick, black, white, spotty... the way they run, amble or waddle, sit, roll, jump, chase, beg and bark... yap...
Dogs are ice breakers...they are great at introducing themselves to other dogs and their humans. Thus I’ve met a lot of people and made many friends, during the process of this project, thanks to our dogs.

Artist Bio

PROFILE:
I attended the North Adelaide school of fine art in the late 1980s, and from then on I started creating art to sell. With a focus on printmaking, painting and textiles, I built up my first small art business. Several businesses later I settled on my current art-business model. My body of work includes painting for exhibitions, commissioned paintings, portraits and Illustrations, showcasing and selling my work in shops and on-line, teaching workshops and tutoring painting in various venues around Adelaide.

SKILLS:
Painting. Illustrating. Portraiture. Large scale murals. Workshop presenter. Art tutor. Blogger. Mentoring.

PRACTICE:
As an artist, I take seriously the development of my own unique style through my practice of painting and creating art everyday. I seek to present an appealing balance between chaos and order in my paintings, and this best reflects who I am as a person living in the world.

I'm also interested in recycling, if I can re-use a beautiful old frame, or a surface that's suitable I will make it into a work of art - I also seek to paint on surfaces that are made from recycled materials where possible.

Thankyou for popping in and having a look,
Sincerely,
Cat Leonard
