For 2025 I'm taking a deep dive into the realm of abstract painting in preparation for an exhibition at gallery M during 2026. As I explore this genre I'll be creating works that echo the natural world and speak about our place within it. I'm interested in repetition, nature, and the beautiful surface quality of layers of paint, endeavouring to bring an aged, earthy textural feel to my works.

Artwork Description
Artist Bio
PROFILE:
I attended the North Adelaide school of fine art in the late 1980s, and from then on I started creating art to sell. With a focus on printmaking, painting and textiles, I built up my first small art business. Several businesses later I settled on my current art-business model. My body of work includes painting for exhibitions, commissioned paintings, portraits and Illustrations, showcasing and selling my work in shops and on-line, teaching workshops and tutoring painting in various venues around Adelaide.
SKILLS:
Painting. Illustrating. Portraiture. Large scale murals. Workshop presenter. Art tutor. Blogger. Mentoring.
PRACTICE:
As an artist, I take seriously the development of my own unique style through my practice of painting and creating art everyday. I seek to present an appealing balance between chaos and order in my paintings, and this best reflects who I am as a person living in the world.
I'm also interested in recycling, if I can re-use a beautiful old frame, or a surface that's suitable I will make it into a work of art - I also seek to paint on surfaces that are made from recycled materials where possible.
Thankyou for popping in and having a look,
Sincerely,
Cat Leonard
