ABOUT THE WORK:
“The greatest cathedral of all is nature itself. “ ~Rodney Cobb
My new series is called “Exhale”. This series is nature-based abstraction. I paint how nature feels to be in it, in a loose, abstract way. I combine layers of color, light, mist, and beauty. Nature heals us. There’s a cognitive advantage to being in nature. Studies show that after a 3 day camping trip your problem solving skills will improve 50%. Nature is a force, an energy, a cosmic collision of color. I combine washes and thin veils of paint and layer them against strong, energetic, and focused brushstrokes to create a push and pull that allows the viewer to wander through the painting. I strive to have both strength and softness [the exhale] in the work. Nature is resilient and ever evolving. No matter what time or day of the year, when I go into nature, I always exhale.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind painting on 1.5" thick gallery wrapped canvas done in oil, acrylic, graphite, and oil stick. The painting is varnished with a satin varnish to protect from dirt and light. The edges of the canvas are light grey, and the painting is wired and ready to hang. This painting is framed in a brushed silver floater frame. Signed by the artist on front and back.
