Catherine Fitzgerald is an accomplished self taught professional artist and paints full time since gaining her first winning art prize at 12 years old. Catherine paints most days, its a spontaneous personal expression not through the influence of others. Catherine continued her skills winning over 100 awards and exhibiting over 80 solo and group exhibitions in Sydney and Melbourne. Her latest Award being one of the finalist in Art Lovers Award 2021.
Catherine is often asked to demonstrate and judge at exhibitions. Her painting methods has been outlined in the Australian Artist Magazine. One of Catherine's painting awarded by Professor Eric Glasgow AO Memorable Award is now the property of the Queen of England. Catherine's paintings were involved in the Victorian Botanical Gardens 100 years celebrations at Sothebys Decorators House 1996. Catherine has achieved numerous Major winning prizes at Exhibitions by judges Jon Dwyer of Sothebys 1997, Sue Nattress of the National Gallery in Victoria 2001, Greg Smith Victorian Artist Society 1998, just to name a few . She has won awards for her paintings in exhibitions at Australian Guild of Realistic Artist Aspect of Excellent Award 2000, Royal and Overseas League by judge Sir William Dargie 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998. Mt View Exhibition 2008, 2018, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2005, Sorrento 2001, 2002, Chirnside Park 1998, 2000, Flinders 2005, Mornington 2001, Canterbury 2014, Camberwell 2012, Roberts Mc Cubbin 1999, 2000, Ivanhoe 2006, 2007, with many other awards too numerous to list.
Catherine has a well trained eye for colour and composition which makes her very popular for Commission Work. Every piece of artwork is special, one of a kind. She enjoys the freedom of all mediums especially Contemporary style, sometimes with a touch of Abstraction or Realism. Catherine also expresses her work on a high photographic memory and active imagination. Her paintings are all planned in her mind ready to navigate to everyday movements towards calm. Her paintings are a journey, being creative with feelings of freedom, dreams and visions.
