A New Day (Winner of Best Work on Canvas at the 2024 Roberts McCubbin Art Show) is an atmospheric landscape painting of the sun emerging from dark clouds over a deep mountain valley. Sunbeams are gently lighting up the stream flowing beneath with a golden glow. The light contrasts dramatically with the darkness around it and the influence of Turner can be see in this work.
