The softness of a lifting storm that provided a sense of emotional healing as we walked around Lake Macquarie on the NSW Central Coast. The left side of the diptych epitomizes turmoil. It was the way the water at the edge of the lake swirled and lapped around the rocks in the shallows. On the right side of the diptych is the scene as you 'look up' - the sun beginning to glow through the lifting clouds, the sense of peace and renewal was strong.
The unusual placement of a vertical pole in the foreground created a cross as it intersected the horizontal shape of the jetty and boat. The three people standing on the jetty symbolized Christ and the two people who were crucified beside him. You may notice how the two paintings seem to join along the middle edges as water ripples become the silver lining of clouds.
