Its all about the windows with the A. W. Dobbie building in Perth. Built in 1905, the Gothic facade is full of character and my painting only captures a smattering of its wonderful details.
During a recent trip to Perth I spent some time walking the streets of the CBD, getting a feel for the history and style of the city. The Gold Rush boom was clearly a driving force in the development of the architecture and I spotted many wonderful and idiosyncratic facades, including a noticeable touch of 'olde Englande' that extends beyond London Court.
For my little collection, I have selected 3 of the buildings that not only caught my eye but also to me encapsulates the architectural style of Perth. Interestingly, when I visited all 3 were for lease or boarded up - all waiting for the next chapter of their lives.
