Original Artwork's Description

Lily Pond in Autumn.

The end of the season rolls across the lily pond as Autumn heralds the changing of the guard. All the abundant growth from the long days of summer begin new roles from above and below.

The last of the water lilies reach upward to talk to the sun but what returns are the slow and inevitable falling leaves. Autumn has come to the pond and the sun moves lower in the sky. The reflections are long and silent as the aquatic life has bunkered down or moved to the last resting place in the mud below.
The water surface is taught and subdued. The water holds the leaves, dust, insects and the odd feather in suspended animation waiting for the winds to disrupt the equilibrium.
The pond prepares in Autumn for what the winter will bring.
