kunanyi Ground is a work that examines the textures, stories & pneuma of the mountain. As my eyes travel across the view of nipaluna (Hobart) and beyond I was drawn to the landscape at my feet. I was interested in the scale of a landscape here, that within the broader environment around me an intimate scene can appear just as vast. This work translates how I see the forms of rocks, branches, habitat and tracks of land in an abstracted visual language. I am exploring how my mark making can be an extension of understanding the physical and intangible elements of place.
