Artwork Description

Representing our current culture, this painting recreates concepts of the old and new, whilst achieving a striking and harmonious display for almost all interior design applications at home or in the office. The design was derived from my best selling Blue nude and Venus series, but with a modern twist with the use of technology. Hence the title ' Selfie-assured ' which is a playful use on the word selfie which most people identitify with the use of the mobile phone.

Artist quality Acrylic paint has been applied to the canvas with an offwhite/ light beige base , while the figure and background consists of black with forest green and dark red. Paint is applied in a precise way to emphasise shape and structure while giving way to balance and harmony. A painted border surrounds the core painting giving the work an added finished feel to it eliminating the need for a frame. The result is a striking and meaningful piece designed to reflect the times and inhabitants of living space.

Chris Cox is an abstract and contemporary artist based in the Southern Tablelands of NSW just north of Canberra. His passion for creativity flourished early and grew from an admirable hobby to a full-time career as an artist.

Although his works exhibit complexity and strategic brushwork, much of his value lies in the arms of simplicity. Chris' core focus is to ' capture moments ', most commonly the simpler, everyday moments that are often overlooked. Chris' ongoing interest with interior design has encouraged the diverse and suitable nature of his works, both enhancing the finer spaces with delicate sized paintings to larger areas with bold canvas works designed to reflect his core motives.
