Shoal - Reserved for Kwong

Representing Australia's great barrier reef, landscape and seascape lovers will love this interpretation of familiar coastline. The work is an abstract and impressionistic representation of the coast achieved through a diverse range of brush techniques. Many of the focal points and background have been given a slightly rougher edge, while a softer and more precise approach is applied to the foreground so as to capture the reef and water streams effectively. These areas are separated by a black line which effectively creates zones of interest throughout the work.

The predominant colours used in the work are a mix of blues including cobalt, cerulean and phthalo, but are harmonised well by the use of black, greys as well as orange, crimson and teal.

Chris Cox is an abstract and contemporary artist based in the Southern Tablelands of NSW just north of Canberra. His passion for creativity flourished early and grew from an admirable hobby to a full-time career as an artist.

Although his works exhibit complexity and strategic brushwork, much of his value lies in the arms of simplicity. Chris' core focus is to ' capture moments ', most commonly the simpler, everyday moments that are often overlooked. Chris' ongoing interest with interior design has encouraged the diverse and suitable nature of his works, both enhancing the finer spaces with delicate sized paintings to larger areas with bold canvas works designed to reflect his core motives.
