Artwork Description

This heavily detailed work, completed in 2016, is part of my ongoing “People and Community Series” and based on the changing nature of a small tourist village as it grows, develops and changes with the ebb and flow of permanent and visiting populations, swelling with the season or special events. These diverse populations comprise unique communities throughout time.
Some town entities are larger than life, well known within the community, can often dominate whilst simultaneously integrating. Types of dwellings make statements too, reflecting their uses, owners, inhabitants and businesses. Spanning a couple of years with a slow build-up of layers and ideas to reflect how we do and have lived, our sense of spaces and history. I have endeavoured to capture this within this work.
