The queue is a very common occurrence of our modern society. As people constantly move about for work, commitments, pleasure and numerous other scenarios, visiting different places, going about their daily lives, thereβs always a queue forming somewhere for some reason. Then during the pandemic they formed in places never before common and began changing the way people had behaved previously to becoming more isolated and introspective and less willing to engage.
My work is focused on the relationship of people with each other and their environments. Here people stand on the pier in various attitudes of thought, patiently awaiting the arrival of a vessel to wherever for whatever.
Text adds to the subtext of the work acting as a springboard for the viewerβs unique response. I am interested in the shape and feel portrayed within. My slow process of layering mixed media and text echoes our uniqueness and many layers of history.
