Shimmering Portals of Light - Abstract Landscape

Shimmering Portals of Light is inspired by the first morning light shifting through the forest foliage. It is a hand-painted small statement piece to brighten any room. This colourful one-of-a-kind contemporary painting has a lux finish in turquoise, blue, copper and gold. It has a textured surface and is finished with blackened edges all round for a smart modern finish. Images show this painting as a portrait style, but you may want to hang it as landscape, such is abstraction.

The painting was created using various techniques combined to allow increased flow, interaction and separation of colours to create interesting patterns where pops of colour can be seen emerging from underneath. This creates an added dimension which can’t be replicated. A gorgeous variety of acrylic pigments were used including metallic gold, copper, turquoise, petal green, indigo, burnt sienna, light blue, midnight blue, black and apple green. Soft brush strokes of subtle copper metallic paint flow down through the painting in a glazed, impressionist style.
The metallic gold notes reflect the shifting light beautifully really bringing the painting to life.

This painting is ready to hang with D-rings and wire at the rear.

Christine is a contemporary painter, occasional art judge and art curator, who lives on Gundungurra and Dharug land, creating art in her bush studio and attached gallery in the beautiful Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia. When you browse Christine's art you will discover it is intuitive, sensual and colourful and underpinned by her love of strong expressive drawing and blending. Christine paints primarily in acrylics and inks and use substrates of artist quality papers, canvas and professional art boards.

Christine's sold and commissioned paintings hang in private homes and offices around Australia, in the United Kingdom, France, USA , Germany, The Phillipines and Japan.

Christine is the recipient of prestigious art awards, peoples’ choice awards and prizes. Most recently Christine received the prestigious Camden Art Prize 2026 Committee’s Special Award was a Finalist in the St Columba Art Prize 2025.

Christine has held successful solo exhibitions most recently at Gallery NWC in Katoomba and at the historic Braemar Gallery in Springwood. She has also shown at Plane Tree Gallery, Gallery One88 Fine Arts, Everglades House, Nolan-On-Lovel Gallery and The Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum Café

I am so fortunate to live and create in the World Heritage Listed Area of The Blue Mountains, and take most of my inspirations from its natural environs and my own sprawling Studio gardens,

I enjoy being an active member of the vibrant Blue Mountains arts community. I volunteer at my local art gallery and enjoy giving back to the arts community in that way. I have run art classes for 10 years and have been requested by art societies to provide workshops, demonstrations and to judge their exhibitions. I have also curated a number of Public Gallery and Art Society Exhibitions.
