Artwork Description

Acrylic on canvas, stretched and ready to hang.

Signed on the front.

I met Baby Zoe and her mom one day I was helping out at the soup kitchen in downtown Brooklyn. I had just been thinking about painting a small baby when this radiant mother and child walked into my sight, I just knew I wanted to paint them.
I invited them to my studio in Brooklyn for a photo shoot. Zoe was 4 months old. Mom and baby were living at the shelter. Mom explained how baby Zoe had been an unexpected miracle and had helped change her lifestyle. Now she had this precious little girl to care for.
I began painting this portrait during the summer of 2023 while we were displaced from our home because of a fire in the neighbors apartment. Unable to make a mess and spread out as I would in my studio I stuck with a restricted palate.
