This is my first dog painting using my textural abstract style. This painting was inspired by my obsession with dogs especially border collies. It was inspired also by my own border collie Abby dog and her obsession with a ball. She also loves the beach and the water so that is why I choose a coastal blue background. This painting isn't a self portrait of her as I wanted more white markings on the nose to add more contrast to the painting. I also exaggerated the eyes (larger) for cuteness and character. Dogs bring so much endless love and joy into our lives. The unreal thing is when I was painting this I also found a lost border collie and he had a play day at ours with Abby dog until I found the local owner. There is a few farms where I live so many dogs go for an adventure. This is a heavily textured painting and the photo doesn't show its true textures and looks much better in real life. The close ups help to show the textures. Finished with a gloss varnish ready to hang. To see videos of my art and its texture visit my instagram page @mirandalloydart .
