Abstract Painting on Canvas
by Brendan Walsh (ColdGhost)
This original Mixed Media painting was a continuation of my recent experiment in using different techniques to apply the paint.
The work was first created by adding washes of colour to the canvas,, to which marks were made and paint was gradually applied with Rollers Sponges, scrapers, spray packs, Paint Pens, stencils, in fact almost anything but brushes.
For me, creating Abstract Art is a instinctive process, with colours added and subtracted and paint layers slowly built up, it’s purely an emotional response to what’s happening on the canvas.
The work is a Large Statement Piece that would create maximum impact to any room.
This artwork stylistically is directly influenced by Graffiti in City Laneways and other weathered surfaces.
The work is also inspired by my love of gestural abstraction and my obsession with using spray paint.
Insitu examples are not to scale.
The work comes on a quality stretched canvas painted black around the edges and is ready to hang.
