VIRTUAL HAPPINESS
Neo Expressionist Pop Painting on Canvas
by Brendan Walsh (ColdGhost)
This Artwork is a continuation in my current series playfully exploring the merging of man and machine.
The evolutionary process which was once a product of nature, is now controlled by humans.
In the age of wearable technologies, where does the human end, and machine begin? And will there still be space for our soul?
In this painting, Childhood fantasies of future technology from last century, Robot Comics and Astro Boy Cartoons, collide with the crushing reality of 2023 Big Tech.
Into the future we stride, smart phones in hand, typing all our personal information into Apps, our likes & dislikes, our exact location being tracked by satellites.
All this juicy information harvested and sold off to advertisers; ready to capitalise on our every desire and insecurity.
I agree to all T’s & C’s and tick the box;
I’m not a Robot.
This original Mixed Media painting playfully explores some of these ideas in a Neo Expressionist, Pop style. Text and imagery dance across the canvas as Cyborgs and Robots wearing today’s Apple Vision glasses are juxtaposed against vintage comic book advertisements for Xray specs.
The work comes on a quality stretched canvas painted black around the edges and is ready to hang.
